Candy and Caramel Apples are popular Halloween treats! Here are some tips for making great candy apples:

  • For easy dipping, use a small saucepan when cooking one kit. A 2qt. saucepan is recommended.
  • For best results and to keep the candy on the apple, it is important that the syrup reach the hard crack stage.
  • To reduce bubbling of the candy coating, stir in ⅛ tsp of solid shortening just before you dip the apples.
  • If cooking several kits in a single batch, use two-thirds of the normal water and cook with high heat.
  • Dip apples within 24 hours of consuming.

I have been a fan of the caramel apples. This year when I opened the package the wraps were not round but off cut leaving the inside a horrible mess. I hope this problem gets solved as I would like to try this again with the kids soon.

Peel and core your apples and dip them at the hard crack stage and put them on buttered aluminum foil. Everyone loves them this way.
